Today is my daughter’s 13th birthday. That is serious. She is my first born child, and life has not been the same since. So I want to say Happy Birthday to her, and I’m thankful that God chose me, out of billions of men, to be her father.
Todat is our daughter‘s 13th birthday. I really cannot believe she is 13! Just like every other parent, it seems like yesterday we were holding her in our arms. I’ve been told the teenage years come with many challenges. Challenges that will test our love for her and her love for us. My hope is we love her unconditionally and always show it, no matter how odd or frustrating her behavior may be.
Not-guilty. This verdict has many people sad, many people outraged, many people screaming for justice. It has me confused, as well as concerned. I learned of George Zimmerman receiving a not-guilty verdict the same time my kids learned of it. Just like the people you see on TV my kids were frustrated, hurt, and confused by it.
My seven year-old son and his team won the first tournament he’d ever played in last summer. This year our team started right where we left off.
Did you know food allergies affect 1 in every 13 children? That is roughly two in every classroom. Every 3 minutes, a food allergy sends someone to the ER. Teens and young adults with food allergies have the highest risk of fatal food-induced anaphylaxis. This is all cause for concern.
My son and his Cardinals youth baseball team are playing in the final rounds of the tournament. Our team is one of the last four teams remaining. We were in a similar position last year, and we finished as champions. That was one of my great sports moments as a dad, one of those moments we’ll never forget.
You know what happens the day before Father’s Day. There is plenty of people running around trying to grab a father’s day gift for dad. Many times this will be a tie, tools, or gift cards.
Father’s Day is this Sunday! There will be all kinds of nice things being said and done for dad. It is well deserved for many dads. However, I think it would be great to flip the script. I am asking every dad to write a message for your child this father’s day.
All three of our children have allergies and have suffered serious reactions which led to emergency room visits. Unlike when we were kids, there is a huge need to keep kids with food allergies safe. I don’t know if there “is something in the water” or what. But food allergies are more common today.
“I’m convinced Father’s Day is the most disrespected day of the year.” This was posted on the Facebook wall of a friend of mine recently. The comment sparked a slew of comments about it, and the reason it may, or may not be true (depending upon who you ask).
