Some friends of ours recently let us borrow the workout videos Insanity and P90X. We decided we wanted to get in better shape, and if we were going to do it then why not challenge ourselves. Well…both sets of DVDs are sitting under our TV collecting dust as I write this.
I’ll be honest, I have been a little scared to start. What seemed fun at first didn’t sound as fun after I read about it, and learned why it is called Insanity. I want to have fun with my fitness activities.
Running a 5k
So, I decided to go a different route. No, I didn’t punk out. Maybe instead of going from couch to 60 days of insane workouts, we should go from couch to a 5k. After all, I’ve run in the past. I’ve trained and completed a 5k, so I know I can handle that. And I know I can complete it.
So my task was to find a local 5k in our area to run. Well…much like the DVDs under the TV, I didn’t do anything about finding a 5k. Sad huh?
Until recently, I was approached about the Color Me Rad 5k, which just happens to be coming through Indy next month. Great, that is it! Not only is it something we can train together for, but we can also have fun. The Color Me Rad 5k is all about fun.
Color Me Rad Indianapolis 5k
Each runner starts out in a plain white t-shirt. But they end the race colored in every color of the rainbow as they are hit with color bombs throughout the race. The run isn’t even timed.
Since we are a
little lot out of shape, we don’t have to be concerned with our time. We just need to finish. And I doubt we’ll be thinking about time anyway when we are hit with an onslaught of colors during the run.
We think the run will be even more fun if you join us. Color Me Rad 5k has agreed to give two free entries to my readers for the race in Indianapolis on Saturday, Sept. 14th. It doesn’t matter if you are a runner or not. You can run, walk, or skip while having fun and getting coated in colors.
